A runaway bride allegedly drugged her husband on their first night by giving him sleeping pills.
She also faces the charge of stealing and making off with money and jewellery.
The incident reportedly occurred on 26th November in Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, repirts Patrika.
Pankaj of Modinagar had married his sister-in-law’s distant relative on 25th November in Java village, Aligarh.
After the wedding, the groom’s family came back to Ghaziabad along with the bride.
On the first night, Pankaj’s wife reportedly gave him water mixed with sleeping pills. And, while he slept like a log, she allegedly took the money and jewellery and ran away.
The next morning, his relatives had to wake up Pankaj by sprinkling water on his face. Noticing that the wife was missing, they searched for her in vain.
About seventy thousand rupees and the wedding jewellery are said to be missing.
Pankaj and his family are in shock over the affair. A complaint has been filed against the runaway bride in the police station.
